Welcome
Olie Fisher Radio Started in 1998 with very basic crude equipment, mostly homemade!!

The above picture was taken in about 2003 and shows the studio as it was going through some development, introduction of computers etc. Before then everything was played of vinyl records and CDs. The shows were recorded on either cassettes or reel-reel tapes.
Now 9 years on Olie Fisher Radio is broadcasting to the world on the internet 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Click on Listen to tune into Olie Fisher Radio.

Major work carried out to backbone Network, and new BCX Pc! - 01/11/2008
Anyone trying to Listen to Olie Fisher Radio over the last couple of weeks would have noticed how sparadic the service had become. This was because our Broadband router was failing (managing 4 hours then crashing, needing to be rebooted). We have now replaced this router with a newer faster model! But as ever you fix one thing another thing breaks! In the early hours of 1st Nov the poor old BCX pc played its last song!, this machine has been serving Olie Fisher Radio since 2005 and has done a great job! until last night! Olie Fisher Radio was off air for a little over 10 hours, while I ran out and bought the cheapest Motherboard and CPU combo!. I ended up buying a AMD Athlon 3000+ Mobo and Cpu. And I must say it seems like money well spent it is certainly faster than the old P4 2.4Ghz that had been playing the music for so many years! Anyway happy listening everyone!, I only hope that this is the end of problems for a few months, im sick of fixing computers!
Major works have been carried out to the studio this weekend! - 21/09/2008
Olie Fisher Radio studio has been through major works this weekend, sorry for any down time that you may have experienced this weekend. Olie Fisher Radio had a compressor/limiter installed on its output before the streams, this enables the signal to be kept at an optium level with no lows, or excessive highs in the audio, two valves accross the output also add a warmth to the audio that you just cant explain untill you listen to the audio. Also this weekend, the server had 215 updates ran on it, and a good dust out, aswell as a small hardware update. All these works were in an attempt to delevier the best possible audio quality and reilabilty to you the listener!

New BCX machine and studio refit! - 02/08/2008
Sorry for the extensive down time late on 31st July and into the early hours of 1st Aug. A new BCX machine was being installed, along with an all new studio layout, to see the new rig go to the gallery page! Anyway Olie Fisher Radio is back up now and hopefully better than ever!
Sorry no more Red Sands! - 14/07/2008
Red Sands, finished its RSL on 13th July 2008, the PCR which mains transformer had burnt out earlier this week is still not in a operable condition, a replacement Mains transmfromer had to be bought, and will be fitted later in the week. Will have to wait for the next Red Sands RSL, which by then the PCR will be working again.
The sweet smell of Burning Transformers! - 08/07/2008
Im very sorry that the Red Sands relay has had to be cut short, due to the transformer in the WW2 radio melting down. This will be repaired as quickly as possible (replacement transformer) so the 300v DC HT can be resupplyed to the valves. Anyway until I can get around to fixing the radio normal Olie Fisher Radio will resume till late this week (hopefully the radio will be back up and running for the last day of Red Sands on Sunday.
Relaying Red Sands Radio! - 07/07/2008
Olie Fisher Radio is relaying Red Sands Radio, which has been granted a RSL (Restricted Service Licsence) to broadcast on 1278Khz MW from 4th July to 13th July 2008 7am to 10pm. Olie Fisher Radio will be relaying this broadcast on its usual audio streams, for thoose who are unable to pick up 1278 (UK only). During this time I will be using a vintage WW2 Pye PCR 'trench' Radio to supply the audio to our normal audio streams!, enjoy, the RSL wont last long. Olie Fisher Radio will resume normal service when the RSL is over at 10pm on 13th July.
Recent Downtime! - 30/06/2008
I apologies for the recent downtime, since Saturday 28th June, I know it was highly unproffessional. However I had not foreseen that both the Primary and Slave hard discs would die anytime soon in the server. Any way thank our IT support that worked around the clock for two days to get everything on the server backup and operational again. Hopefully this wont be repeated anytime soon, but you know hard disks, anything with moving parts is never 100% reliable and trust worthy.
